Freelance Writing: Helium Review

Writers everywhere are always looking for new opportunities. Helium. com is a great website to sharpen up your writing skills. Helium is a writing website where the writers compete for the number one position. This platform pushes writers to produce the best content for bragging rights. When you sign up there are many kinds of writing assignments to tackle.

Article writing is the most popular writing category because it pays the most per thousand views. Creative writing is the lowest, but don’t let that discourage you. There are different pay scales for every category; the least amount you will receive is $1.25 per thousand views. Helium holds bi-weekly writing contests in most categories. The first place pays $20, second place $10, and third place is $5.

Other contest can pay as much as $200 for first place, which the money starts to add up after a while. I would say there are a couple of things that could be better, and that’s the pay per thousand views. It can take a while before you reach the $25 payout; it takes some people years to reach payout.

I reached payout in 4 months and things are starting to pick up. One more downside to Helium is the staff chooses the titles to be written. You are allowed to suggest titles, but sometimes they will be rejected. I would say if you are a writer looking for competitive writing, then Helium is the perfect place to do so.
