Poetry: We Stand
We stand for the greater good
Our voice amplified to speak when we should
All this hard work is progress in society's eyes
To have it all destroyed by the younger generation
Ungrateful, for the freedom that we've fought for so long
Time is of the essence, I won't steer you wrong
On a crash course of life, and the wheels keep moving on
What do you know about picking cotton in the fields?
Being forced to work with the sun beating down on you
What do you stand for is it this, or did we do this for nothing?
Our voice was a voice of tortured souls
To have our morals and words chopped and misconstrued
So much it resembles a smoothie in a blender
Slender thoughts because your thoughts don't hold weight
Promiscuous men and women because they couldn't wait
Hate is controlling everyone's lives
The next time you b*tch, complain, or you whine
Just know your ancestors died, so you can speak what's on your mind
We stand.
