Poetry: In Captivity

In captivity we remain
Slaves to each other
Complete with a ball and chain
With no way out, we constantly seek

Not happy with commitment
So we find reasons to cheat
Gossip fuels fights in the night
Calling each other liars

Shouting matches burst into fires
Locked on your target and taking aim
A random " I love you."
Extinguishes the flames

A look of disgust on your face
How could I do such a thing?
You're my everything deep down in my heart
Together at last, we won't be apart
