How to Stop a Dog from Itching

A dog itching is often caused for a number of reasons such as fleas, skin infections, and allergies. There are some methods to get rid of fleas, so your dog will stop itching. Regular grooming will help remove any fleas this includes brushing, and bathing your dog.

You can bathe your dog with flea shampoo and eucalyptus oil to combat the fleas. This mixture should kill any remaining fleas, which might be on your dog. You can rub Aloe Vera on the leftover fleabites, to soothe the pain your dog might be experiencing. When your dog goes outside, you can put flea powder on them to repel any fleas.

Skin infections will make a dog scratch itself uncontrollably. Folliculitis is a skin infection, and it is a common cause of a dog itching. You will notice scabs underneath the dog’s hair. They will often have a reddish hue to them, with raised bumps and scabs.

There are ointments that can be prescribed by a veterinarian, or you can use over the counter shampoos. With long-haired dogs, Folliculitis may be difficult to diagnose. It is important to check your dog every day because most of these symptoms could go unnoticed.

Allergies can make your dog itch, household contaminates such as mold are a culprit. Mold grows lurks in wet places, and the particles in the air could irritate your pet’s skin. Mold grows in basements because it is damp and dark place. Make sure you clean your home often to keep your pet free from contaminates.

If your dog plays outside, the pollen in the air could affect your pet in a negative way. The same way humans have allergies from pollen, pets will be susceptible as well. These are some things to look out for, if your dog should develop an itch.
