SEO Tips: How to Increase Website Speed
Google is taking the necessary precautions to stop keyword spammers. There is one thing SEO's are overlooking, and that's website speed. Think about how important it is to have a website that loads quickly. A fast website can make or break your website. Here are some things that you can do to optimize your site.
Firstly, avoid pictures that take up too much space. High resolution pictures are pretty, but they can definitely make your website load slowly. If you are going to use pictures in your site, post them in portrait mode. Try not to have so many landscape pictures because they take up too much space. There's nothing worse than a site that takes forever to load.
Next, is make the font on your site smaller. The bigger the font the longer it takes to load. I find a medium to large font is fine. If you can, try to avoid colored font, and too many different styles of lettering. The standard font should be fine for the people visiting your site.
Watch out when you put video on your site. I've seen a lot of people make this mistake. When I go on their landing page there's tons of videos that play automatically. Cut the videos down to a minimum, and be sure to check the load speed after you do so.
Lastly, putting too many ads on your blog/website will discourage your readers. I understand that you have to be paid for your efforts, but make sure you put ads in moderation. If you have any questions leave them in the comments, and I'll be sure to answer them.
