Poetry: Just Like Heaven

I've seen babbling brooks of water
Flowing on for miles
Giant saucers of wisdom
An endless source of smiles

Songs are being sung
Echoed across the land
Plum scented beaches
With loads of purple sand

What to Avoid When Writing Poetry

I've been writing poetry for a little over a year now, and I've listed some things you want to avoid. If you have an idea for a poem just build off of that idea. Poems don't have to rhyme, but I prefer to write ones that do rhyme. Most people when they write poetry is to make it personal. I've read poems that are so personal they go as far as to mention the persons name.

Short Story: Forced Entry

In a quiet town far, far away, lived a young lady named Emily. She was a hard worker and she had everything that she wanted as a kid. Recently, Emily moved into her very first home. Emily was the talk of the town, and the neighbors couldn't stop praising her recent purchase.

The house needed a little work done to it, but over it was immaculate. Emily painted the walls while she listened to loud rock music. At 23 years old buying a house was a huge accomplishment. Some of Emily's neighbors invited her to a block warming party. She quickly obliged, and she was so excited to meet her new neighbors.

How to Become a Graffiti Writer

There are many things in life you can become, but some people strive to live on the edge. I've done graffiti in my past, and I don't condone this behavior. With that said, if it's something you want to do there are some things you need to know. The most important thing is come up with a name that has a "ring" to it. Most of the popular graffiti artists have a name that has some kind of meaning. You want to stay away from obvious names that have been used before.

Tips for Writing a Short Story

I'm a writer and sometimes in my free time I like to write short stories. I mainly just write them for a warm-up exercise, but I noticed that people struggle with the plot. If you have trouble creating characters or twists in a stories plot, you're not alone. When I first started writing I would get writers block all the time. I felt like I was always drawing a blank. I've learned from my mistakes, so here are a couple of ideas you can incorporate into your next short story.

How Does My Plumbing System Work?

Homeowners need to know some basic tips of plumbing in case there is an emergency. It is a good idea to locate the water source to your home. Generally, these are located outside your home, and some of them require a key for operation. You can use the key to turn on and turn off the water supply to your home.

The water travels from the water valve outside your home into your water heater. The water is then split into two pipes one hot and one cold. These pipes are made up of two materials copper, and steel. The larger the pipes you have in your home, will equate to better water pressure. Homes with a weaker water pressure you should upgrade to bigger pipes, to increase the flow of water.

Your home has a sophisticated drainpipe system, and it starts with the main stack. The main stack is the pipe that travels from the sewer line into your home. This pipe travels throughout your home, and it is ventilated out the roof of your home. This provides a free flowing air to combat a blockage in your plumbing system.

In order for the water to flow into the main stack, the water needs to flow downhill. The pipes are connected to the main stack, and they are strategically placed to ensure the water flow is uninterrupted. A drainage system that flows slowly, smoothly, and without sharp turns is the best system to own.

If you have a blockage in your plumbing system, there are clean out spots located at the end of pipes. These can be opened by yourself or by a professional to remove a clog in the drain. The stack is where most problems arise, so check there first if you have any leaks or clogs.

How to Remove a Mole

Mole removal is easy to do if you have the right tools. The only thing you need to remove a mole is a piece of dental floss. You can lift up the mole and knot the string around the base.

Make sure the string is tied tight enough because you want to stop blood from circulating to the area. After you have tied the dental floss, cut off the remainder of the floss, so there are no loose pieces.

The next step in the mole removal is to leave the dental floss on for two days. This should make the mole turn black. Do not remove the floss; the mole should fall off on its own.

Once you remove the mole, it will leave a red mark or a slight discoloration. Check with your doctor to see if this method is safe for you. This usually works for non-cancerous moles, and it can save you multiple trips to the doctor.
